Witch

Introduction

This drinking game uses an empty glass. A strict set of rules for passing the glass must be followed. The first person to make a mistake drinks four fingers.

How to Play

The first player holds an empty glass with their hand placed upside down around the glass. They then offer the glass to another player, holding it out to them, whilst saying: "This is the Witch".

That player does not take the glass, but says: "The what?"

The first player replies: "The Witch".

The second player says: "Ah! The Witch" and takes the glass, using the same upside-down hold on the glass as shown above.

This player then turns to someone else and repeats the process:

"This is the Witch".

This new player replies: "The what?".

Instead of replying to the new player, the second player turns back to the original player and says: "The what?"

The first player replies: "The Witch".

The second player then turns to new player and says: "The Witch".

They say: "Ah! The Witch" and takes the glass, using the same upside-down hold on the glass as shown above, and then turns to someone else and the process repeats. The chain gets longer and longer as more people are brought in. To make it harder, the same person can be added later down the chain, adding to the complexity.

The first person to make a mistake has to drink four fingers.

Alternative Version

As the glass is passed around, the name used to present it to the next person varies according to a particular theme. For example, you could decide to play with the theme of food beginning with 'S', in which case an exchange might go as follows:

  • Player 1: This is the Sausage
  • Player 2: The what?
  • Player 1: The Sausage
  • Player 2: Ah! The Sausage (then, to player 3) This is the Sandwich
  • Player 3: The what?
  • Player 2: The what? (to player 1)
  • Player 1: The Sandwich (to player 2)
  • Player 2: The Sandwich (to player 3)
  • Player 3: Ah! The Sandwich (then, to player 4) This is the Samosa

If someone can't think of a name that hasn't been used before, they must drink 4 fingers.
