Switch Hand Drinking Game

Introduction

The rules to this game are almost identical to the popular card game "Switch", except without the cards. Although the minimum number of players is 4, as with most games - the more the merrier.

How to Play

The players sit around a table, and place both their hands onto the surface, interlocking them with the players on either side of them. So looking in front of you, you will see:

Your Left Hand, the Right Hand of the player to the left of you, the Left Hand of the player to the right of you, your Right Hand.

Three shots are then placed at each hand of every player, and the first player taps with their left hand.

  • 1 tap = the hand next to the tapper must continue the sequence
  • 2 taps = the hand next to the tapper in the opposite direction must continue the sequence (i.e. the direction of play is reversed)
  • 3 taps = miss the next hand and continue sequence
  • 4 taps = reverse, miss next hand, then continue sequence.

Each hand must tap in the order it is on the table when it is that hands turn. Every time a player misses a tap when it is their turn they must drain as glass at that hand. Every time a player taps when it is not their turn to tap they must drain the glass. When all 3 shots have been drunk on the offending hand, the hand is withdrawn from the game. Once a player has both hands withdrawn from the game they are out.

The game continues until there is only one person left; they are crowned the winner. The loser of the entire game is the person whose hand was last to be eliminated before the game ends; they must drain every shot left on the table; a maximum of 7 (i.e. 2 hands with 3, and 1 from their own), and a minimum of 3 (i.e. 2 hands with 1, and 1 from their own).

In the next round, 2 shots are placed at each hand, and in the final round, 1 shot is used for each hand.
